One year on and the repercussions of Irmageddon are still there

It was great to be present at the Fort Lauderdale, Mariners Club Seminar earlier this month and get some sort of closure on the Irma related preoccupations. It turns out that dozens of good people were dragged into this chaotic process, slept rough, caught Zika and inspected umpteen yachts.

A year on and the repercussions of Irmageddon are still there. Yachts are being repaired and recommissioned, salvages have been sold, others are waiting for their future to be determined. There is an incredible sense of lag in the proceedings. Patience and endurance is being tested to the limits. Nature was first to show its resilience, then the local island spirit, then the marine industry, then the insurance industry…
