Team

Navalmartin has a dedicated team of Naval Architects, Designers, Project Managers, Engineers and Surveyors with considerable experience in the yacht and marine insurance markets who are ideally placed to advise on yachts, superyacht and marine related matters. The team comprises experienced sailors also with experience of working on board a variety of vessels, having practical knowledge and experience of the yachting world. They also draw on their experience from commercial shipping.

Daria Cabai

Daria is a qualified naval architect and chartered engineer with more than 10 years of experience covering ship design, marine consultancy, R&D, and project management.

In the past, she represented the UK MCA at IMO. Since 2005 she acts as an independent expert for European Commission. Her PhD followed by an industrial-led research project in the area of ship design have earned her the prestigious RINA-LR Ship Safety Award.

Daria’s core activity is design; in addition she provides such services as casualty investigation and expert witness. In parallel with engineering career, Daria studied yacht design at the Royal College of Art and, at Navalmartin, she is in charge of all creative projects.

Daria’s hobbies are submarines and racing classic yachts. She is helming S/Y St Christopher this season.

Val Martin

Val started his career in naval architecture as a designer of high speed trimarans and large yachts. In Navalmartin he regularly acts as expert witness on design-related claims.

Working for a major classification society – as part of ship emergency response team – Val advised on over 35 large scale marine casualties and was responsible for cross-assessment of salvage operations.

Advisor for the EU, and the UK in the area of offshore renewable energy. Val was responsible for project management on behalf of underwriters, and supervision of the risk associated with the construction of a large offshore wind farm off Belgium.

In Navalmartin , Val acts also as on-site salvage engineer, developing refloating plans, supervising salvage operations and providing live advice to masters on ship stability, strength and pollution.

Based in London, Charlotte is responsible for overseeing UK and International marketing efforts and client relations for Navalmartin.

Charlotte has over twelve years’ B2B marketing experience and specialises in providing marketing services for the Global Marine, Energy, Offshore and Insurance Sectors. She has previously worked for The Salvage Association, BMT Marine and Offshore Surveys and more recently as the Marketing Manager for Braemar Shipping Services plc. Charlotte studied at the university of Brighton where she received her degree in Business and Marketing Communications.

Patrycja is a hugely talented industrial designer working alongside Navalmartin’s team on a number of design and R&D projects. Having graduated with BA in Industrial Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, she joined Navalmartin in 2016. In parallel with working as a designer, Patrycja conducts research towards a PhD degree in marine industrial design. Her creative mindset, combined with a methodical approach is invaluable to a number of Navalmartin’ s ongoing projects.

Agostina is tasked to oversee the smooth operations of S/Y St CHRISTOPHER, Navalmartin’s racing yacht. She is also a talented industrial marine designer and makes a valued contribution to Navalmartin’s ongoing yacht design projects. She studied at Buenos Aires university (UBA), and later practiced at AF Design and Imantados Estudio. She started sailing as a child and has never stopped.

Phil Andrews

Phil is an experience marine engineer having previously worked as an engineer for P&O cruises and later overseeing superyacht refits for Royal Oceanic as well as working as a Technical Superintendent for Saudi Aramco. He also worked as a Flag State Inspector for Marshall Islands, surveying a wide range of vessels. Phil joined the Navalmartin as an associate marine engineer in 2017. He is involved as a surveyor and project manager overseeing the the refurbishment of a 50m private dining, passenger vessel.
